FalconStor and IBM Partnering on Hybrid Cloud Backup

AUSTIN, Texas — FalconStor and IBM are working together on several hybrid cloud backup solutions.

FalconStor and IBM established a “strategic relationship” to provide jointly validated solutions for IBM Power Systems, according to the companies last month.

The solutions are intended to help enterprise customers and managed service providers (MSPs) with their cloud migration and cloud-enabled backup needs.

Three solutions focused on data migration and optimizing data protection will be provided: a cloud-native backup solution; cloud migration solution; and hybrid cloud backup solution.

Todd Brooks, FalconStor CEO, said the company can help IBM customers and partners adopt the IBM Cloud “with confidence and complete data resiliency.”

Brooks said FalconStor has decades of experience protecting IBM i and Linux workloads on-premises as well as experience helping MSPs and enterprises “embrace hybrid cloud protection.”

The IBM Power Systems customer and partner bases are “increasingly looking to take advantage of the cloud for their core applications,” said Terry Thomas, director of IBM Power Systems public cloud product management, IBM.

“Bringing together FalconStor’s core backup and replication technology with the IBM Power Virtual Server Cloud enables our enterprise customers and managed service providers to confidently tap the cloud at their desired pace.”
