WANdisco Launches IoT Data Activation Software

SAN RAMON, Calif. — WANdisco is rolling out its next data activation application.

WANdisco launched its WANdisco Edge to Cloud software for Internet of Things (IoT) data activation, according to the company last month.

The software is intended for exabytes of edge data to be efficiently transferred for use in any cloud environment.

WANdisco believes data from IoT-connected devices is “trapped” at the edge, limiting the value it can create for enterprises.

Moving the IoT data in many edge centers to the cloud to collectively analyze sensor data can be a “long and tedious” process.

WANdisco Edge to Cloud is designed to directly connect IoT data storage with cloud-based artificial learning (AI), including machine learning (ML), and analytics applications, for each sensor-generated data point to “add business value and be monetized.”

The software scales to handle the large IoT datasets. It can move multiple petabytes of data per day.

WANdisco Edge to Cloud is built on WANdisco’s Data Activation Platform that enables the continuous migration of data across edge systems, on-premises data centers, and public cloud environments.

“Making sense of all your IoT data is the business opportunity of a generation,” said David Richards, co-founder and CEO, WANdisco.

“It’s what will turn companies in sectors like manufacturing, telecommunications, energy and utilities, health care and automotive into data companies.”
